Description: |
The teaching of Bhutan History (BH) in Dzongkha for classes VII and VIII was introduced into the Bhutanese education system in 2006. Lately, this became an issue for debate with stakeholders questioning the wisdom and efficacy of teaching BH in Dzongkha and resulted in a recommendation by the 11th Annual Education Conference of 2008 to carry out an independent study of teaching BH in Dzongkha. In July 2008 the Royal University of Bhutan was commissioned to carry out this impact study. As the result 10 researchers from the Royal University of Bhutan (including me) conducted this research during August - December 2008. The research study employed a combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in order to come up with the most reliable and useful data from all stakeholders. A total of 96 schools out of 131 eligible schools, 160 teachers, 134 principals, 15722 students, 4 DEOs, 2 teacher educators, 9 parents and 9 class observations were covered throughout the country. The findings from the research were presented to the stakeholders, Ministry of Education, Thimphu on in December 2008. |

|
Description: |
I have conducted this research to investigate student’s use of web services (Internet) in their written task at the Paro College of Education, Paro Bhutan. The research has indicated that there is a lack of some of educational information technology services such as e-learning at the Paro College of Education. Internet connection being very slow was the main barrier to learning using e-learning or Internet resources. The quality of the assignments can be improved by accessing and using updated information from the Internet and Web services. There is a strong relationship between what students learnt and the environment, between the quality of written task and the source of the information, and between Web searching and learning. |
